The best Wisden auction site!!

Post by edgwarerover »

Chris rarely, if ever blows his own trumpet, so let me do it for him by praising his creation. Generally speaking, I have only used WA as a second or third option but having successfully listed 15 lots since Christmas I am certain that I will use this medium for selling far more often. The footfall on the site has increased enormously over the last couple of years and prices obtainable seem to be considerably better than competitor sites. I have never been forced to lower my start figures below that which I find acceptable and turnover rate has been absolutely staggering!
Well done, Chris, and many thanks.

Yes, praise indeed.

As a buyer I do always check the WA site first and what is more I have great confidence that the book descriptions on the site contain no deception.

I have just listed a stunning run 1864-1973 on WA which, I hope will do justice to all expectations.
I wonder whether Grimble would care to get his teeth into it? The start price should tempt many.

Has anyone seen the amazing run of leather-bound editions from 1996 to date? If only I had the money, I would certainly have been tempted.

Of course, the fact that the seller has chosen to list them on such a fabulously run website as Chris's WisdenAuction rather than the banditfest that is Ebay makes them doubly desirable. We are all in Chris's debt for having come up with such a superb and trustworthy marketplace.

You are very kind, the leathers are beautiful and certainly worth a recommendation. I wonder if they are worth more now you get a chance to goto the Wisden Dinner?

I suppose that depends on what's on the menu.

If that's not a perfect opportunity for Mike and Simon to provide suggestions, I don't know what is.

Richard. Good day to you. I'm afraid that things have been a tad busy this side of the water and I haven't been posting too much of late, but I have been keeping an eye on you guys! Hope to get a bit more time once we get into Easter. I shall let Mike start with the menu. Meanwhile, I daresay that you'll be keeping a we eye on this afternoon's match. I think Ireland and Scotland will struggle to come through, but at least they're there with a chance. Haggis.

Good to hear from you, Simon. It'll be interesting to see the outcome of today's match and I'm not hopeful.

On the menu, I guess we can always start with Duck Soup.

David Shepherd's Pie with Onions relish

Up to now I have been buying from Ebay , often from John J (and very satisfied I have been with those) ! for the more recent Wisdens, I have recently been buying 1940's Linens from WisdenAuction.com (both originals and Willows) and as I move back into the 1930's and earlier their seem to be less of this era on Ebay so unless I know the seller, I am moving more to purchase from WisdenAuction.com

Those of you who have no commercial axe to grind, do you think I am on the right track AND are their any other sensible options I shuld be considering ???
ANY ADVICE WELCOME

There are lots of places to buy from. I recommend taking your time and waiting for a good book to come along whatever the source

Contact dealers for a specific book . . . . Christopher Saunders I have found to be good, I have met John J, and corresponded several times, never bought from him, but I believe him to have a deserved reputation.
